Our Process – Attention to Details
A spectacular designed pool is only as enjoyable as it’s quality of construction. Pools Unlimited, Inc. prides it self on its ability to construct an impressive pool with minimal intrusions on the customer's property or their everyday schedule. In most cases, our construction process will allow you to be enjoying your in-ground pool in as little as a few weeks. Outlined below are the steps taken in giving you the pool-scape you imagine.
Step I – Pool Design
This step entails an inspection of your property to determine the best placement of your pool, spa or waterfall. It is critical to know the following information prior to the design, layout and construction:
--Property Size
--Easements
--Elevations
--Drainage
--HOA or Access Restrictions
With this information in-hand we create a custom 3-D drawing before construction begins. These realistic drawings allow you to visualize the elements of your pool design and make any revisions or improvements as necessary. Once the design is approved, the layout process will begin.
Step II – Layout
Pool is marked on the ground prior to excavation with the dimensions outlined in the pool design. At this time we provide you with the opportunity to see the outline of the actual size and shape of the pool. You can make layout changes before the actual ground breaking and excavation begins.
Step III – Excavation
Once the layout stage is complete, we begin excavation of the ground, underlying soil and rock in order to prepare the site for the pool construction to begin.
Step IV – Forming & Steel
Just as steel and wood form your home's solid foundation; it is also used to form the shape and structure of your pool. Depth perception of the pool site now comes into view.
Step V – Electrical & Plumbing
Before the gunite stage, the plumbing and electrical components are installed. The plumbing lines are installed using schedule 40 PVC pipe. All plumbing lines are pressure tested and the electrical meets the necessary city and state codes.
Step VI – Gunite
This stage is the stage which is awesome to watch. A team of experienced personnel ”shoot” the entire pool structure with 4000 psi gunite (a cement/sand stages) using high-pressured hoses that create the strong inner shell of the pool. This state is exciting because you begin to image the pool of your dreams.
Step VII – Decking
This is the area surrounding your pool. There are many surfaces which can be used here based on your personal tastes & style. There are a variety of finishes to choose, from the standard Sundeck materials to custom stone, flagstone, rainbow rock, spray deck or stamped/stained concrete to complement your home and surrounding property. If you desire any other outdoor amenities such as fireplaces, kitchens, fountains and more this is the stage when these are created.
Step VIII – Tile & Coping
This stage the coping is added to the edge of the pool. The tile is set at the water line. There are wonderful selections available of natural stone tiles, slates, ceramics and mosaics. The pool coping can be crafted from natural stone, limestone, brick, cement or other materials that create a unique style to your pool.
Step IX – Masonary & Stone
The team of masons at Pools Unlimited, Inc. take great pride in their work just as all the other craftsmen. Our project managers ensure quality control during the installation process so all work is within industry guidlines and is built to last.
Step X – Plaster
The final stage of the project is a coating of plaster over the gunite shell. Choose classic white or from a wide range of colors. This process requires a quick, hard working and experienced team to smooth the surface to assure a beautiful finish. Upon completion of plaster the pool is immediately filled with water. After the pool is filled, the next seven days the pool owner needs to brush the plaster surface twice daily to ensure a smooth clean surface.
Completion – Start-up & Training
That’s it! Chemicals are added to your new pool, spa or water-feature and you’re just about ready to dive in! Often a first time pool owner can feel overwhelmed by the initial start-up and maintenance of the pool. Pools Unlimited, Inc. provides each pool owner with the necessary training, pool school, on how to operate the controls of the pool equipment, plus a complimentary manual that outlines and explains in detail how to easily take care of your pool. In addition, we have a service department that is available to answer any questions you have regarding the care of your new pool and equipment.
